BRINGING HISTORY BACK

Classical Pavilion in Washington, D.C.

The project brief first started with the simple technique of understanding how to construct columns such as Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian.

This studio was combined; first-year and second-year graduate students. The master plan was taken from the second-year student of our choice. The Doric column was used as the basic principle of the design, further developing it into an open concept loggia. The length of the structure allows one to focus on a specific statue commemorating an American hero.

This pavilion memorializes Harriet Tubman, Amelia Earhart, Susan B Anthony, and Clara Barton - women of this country. Specific detailing included engravings of quotes from these heroes and a beautiful barrel vault interior.
